Cannabidiol or CBD is classified is categorized in one of three ways depending on how many marijuana compounds remain in them and the different types that exist. Aside from CBD and THC, marijuana compounds contain other cannabinoids. These include flavonoids, which contain antioxidant properties, and terpenes or aromatic compounds. You’ll most likely find a broad range of compounds in different amounts and ratios in the products found on the market today. Many of these have medicinal benefits and can reduce symptoms for a variety of ailments.

Consequently, it’s important to be aware of what you’re purchasing. You can find most need-to-know information on the label or packaging. If you still have doubts, it is good to ask the sales representatives at the dispensaries or stores. There are 3 types of CBD sold in dispensaries. These include:

• CBD Isolate – this is pure CBD and contains no other marijuana compounds. CBD isolate is usually derived from hemp plants due to their low levels of THC. This lower level of regulation means that some CBD products more than what is specified on the product’s label. Unfortunately, the CBD industry is not immune to fraudulent activities and mislabeling. Therefore, it’s important to ensure that you buy your CBD isolate from reputable vendors or dispensaries.
• Broad-spectrum CBD – this type of CBD is commonly sold in oil form. However, it’s less widely available compared to other two types. Much like full-spectrum CBD, you’ll find other compounds such as other cannabinoids and terpenes in broad-spectrum CBD. However, this type of CBD doesn’t contain any THC which makes it unlikely to fail a drug test that looks for THC.
• Full-spectrum CBD – you can purchase this type of CBD in edibles, oils, serums, tinctures, and topical creams. CBD oil differs from hemp oil in that it comes from the plant (i.e. leaves, its flowers, and stalks) whereas hemp oil is derived from seeds. The extract contains natural compound commonly found in marijuana, meaning it contains flavonoids, other cannabinoids, terpenes, and small amounts of THC.

Furthermore, it can be challenging to get the THC content right if you’re not extracting it from hemp plants, which typically have lower amounts of THC when it comes from commercial hemp. That limits the content found in the final product. Does full-spectrum CBD come in drug tests? Although most CBD oil products don’t contain THC, taking a full-spectrum CBD oil may result in a positive drug test.
